Organized by The Hague Academy and UCLG, under the umbrella of the Municipal Peace Talks

The 2-hour peace learning event on Urban Violence and city-to-city (C2C) diplomacy will take place at the UCLG World Council in The Hague and aims to explore how local governments can address urban violence while promoting peace and city to city diplomacy through innovative strategies. This learning is connecting to the overall UCLG agenda on peace, and looks towards the practical pathways towards safe, peaceful, and inclusive cities where residents feel secure and supported, fostering an overall culture of non-violence. Our focus will be on the 2022 UCLG Peace Prize-winning case from Recife, Brazil, where community centers have been successfully employed as a strategy to prevent urban violence by fostering social inclusion, resilience, and community-led peacebuilding.
