Changements sur "Dialogue intergénérationnel"

Avatar: Carole Morillon Carole Morillon

Description (English)

  • -
The Intergenerational Dialogue brings together the UCLG Presidency, mayors, governors, young elected officials and youth representatives in their diversity for an open and inclusive public debate on intergenerational solidarity in policy-making and local governance for future generations. This session highlights the leadership of young people today, recognizing them as active agents of change rather than solely the leaders of tomorrow. It is the first in a series of dialogues following the 2024 UN Summit of the Future, reaffirming the commitment of local governments to unite with youth for long-term thinking and intergenerational justice.

Guided by principles of equality and trust, the protection and stewardship of the commons, and the advancement of local democracy, this dialogue will provide a space to
reflect on how cities and territories can address current challenges and build a more sustainable and just world, while fostering inclusive and gender-equal local policy-making. Cooperation, intergenerational solidarity, experience-sharing, and the transformation of social norms, will serve as cornerstones for this discussion, emphasizing the role of cities as key spaces for shared progress for present and future generations.

Participants will envision how to strengthen collaboration across generations, ensuring that local governance meaningfully includes youth voices, and not only meets the needs of the present but safeguards the interests of future generations. This dialogue sets the stage for ongoing exchanges, inspiring bold leadership and collective action toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the post 2030 agenda.
