DAY 4: A LOCAL SOCIAL COVENANT

The fourth day of the Retreat will focus on redefining public service provision and strengthening collective commitments within the framework of the Local Social Covenant.

The morning session will explore how local and regional governments are innovating in service provision to enhance care, resilience, and rights-based approaches. The discussion will highlight synergies between the UCLG Pact for the Future of Humanity and the UN Pact for the Future, particularly in shaping global agendas such as the Doha 2025 World Social Summit and the UCLG 2026 World Congress.

The afternoon session will take place on World Social Justice Day and will center on advancing the Local Social Covenant as a multistakeholder platform for structural dialogue. Participants will shape high-level commitments addressing global challenges such as housing, climate justice, finance, health, and food security. Through an interactive agora, the session will ensure that local and regional leadership remains central to a new social contract based on human rights, youth participation, caring systems, and antiracism.

This day will serve as a key moment to align local actions with global priorities, fostering a collective vision for inclusive and sustainable governance.
