The New Essentials: Priorities of Local and Regional Governments

The session will explore the notion and dimensions of the New Essentials as a fundamental topic for the Local Social Covenant and beyond. The New Essentials, intended as LRGs' innovative responses to unforeseen radical changes, crises and transformations and their impacts on the local level through the delivery of public services, will be the fil rouge for the interventions: new ways to accommodate local necessities developed by local and regional governments.

This multistakeholder and action-oriented discussion will be connected to the important objective of reinforcing UCLG’s commitment to the implementation of care as a crucial lens to local governance and one of the transversal axes of the Local Social Covenant while strengthening the GOLD VII collaborative process as key and innovative in the local and regional governance knowledge landscape.
