This session will explore the critical role of Local Economic Development in urban recovery, focusing on how economic regeneration strategies can rebuild trust, social cohesion, and resilience in conflict-affected areas. Through case studies from Syria, Palestine, and the MEWA region, participants will examine participatory, area-based planning approaches and the role of multi-stakeholder collaboration in fostering inclusive economic recovery. The discussion will highlight best practices in integrating LED into post-conflict reconstruction, emphasizing the importance of bottom-up engagement, urban-rural linkages, and long-term economic resilience to support peacebuilding efforts.
